## Health Action International Health Action International (HAI) is an independent non-profit organisation working to advance policies that enable all people to realise the human right to the highest attainable level of health. To make this a reality, our team and global network carry out research to inform evidence-based advocacy for equitable access to affordable medicines and healthcare. Medicines are crucial not only for improving our health and well-being, but also to fulfil our human right to health. But in the European Union (EU) and beyond, the price of many new patented medicines is growing higher every year, jeopardising the ability of patients to access them when needed and threatening the sustainability of healthcare systems. ## We have the tools to change this. The legitimate use of intellectual property management tools, including compulsory licensing and other TRIPS flexibilities, to achieve public health goals should not be considered exceptional or limited to a specific geographical area or disease. Instead, they should be widespread and growing given that low-, middle, and high-income countries, alike, face increasing economic burdens linked to the procurement of pharmaceuticals. This navigator, **which also relies on publicly available information from the European Patent Office and the Medicines Law & Policy TRIPS flexibilities database**, provides the background and information necessary to facilitate this process.
